Digital Flexor Tenosynovitis
Brief Review:
- Tenosynovitis of a digital flexor tendon, also called “trigger finger,” is quite common
- Usually, a painful palpable nodule is present
- Radiographs and other diagnostic tests are not needed to make an accurate diagnosis
- Treatment options include
- Antiinflammatory medications
- Modification of activities
- Ice
- Massage
- Stretching of the flexor tendons
- Gentle grip strength exercises
- Corticosteroid injections
- Surgery: in patients with frequent recurrence
